Review of Lush Cosmetics Hair Treatment

As a hairdresser I've had the pleasure of working with some amazing hair care brands which are able to improve the condition and manageability of hair using high end ingredients and science. Sometimes it's nice to go back to basics and use something with more naturally sourced ingredients.

I'm a big Lush fan and regularly use their bath bombs and soaps but have never tried their hair care. On a recent trip to Lush in Norwich a very helpful lady (I wish I could remember her name) talked me though their hair care range and I came out with a hair treatment called H'SUAN WEN HUA...I'm so glad I'm writing this as I have no idea how to prounance it.

This treatment is great for hair that is dry and slightly damaged due to the protein rich free range eggs and helps to moisturise with the aid of bananas, avocados and organic extra virgin olive oils.

The mask is applied to dry hair, massaged in and left for 20 minutes prior to shampooing. It's priced at £9.75 and I would say on average you would get 6 treatments per tub. As it contains no added perfume it does have an unusual smell. To me it smells at bit medical (The boyfriend thinks it stinks) but please don't let it distract you from the benefits it provides your hair. It's thick and creamy in texture and I concentrated mine more towards the mid lengths to ends where my hair is dry and heat damaged.

I've used mine 3 times now and find that it's so much smoother and silky when I dry it and gives a nice shine. For how much it costs per treatment I'd definitely buy it again. This would be perfect  for people who prefer the benefits of reverse shampooing.

The above picture is after I had dried and straightened my hair but applied no finishing products.

Unlike their fresh face masks this one doesn't need to be kept in the fridge but does have as use by date of around 3 months printed on the tub.

Happy reading Cx

Beauty Offer

Summer beauty preparation has got easier with a little offer from our friends at St Giles Spa....

I love planning holidays... buying new clothes, deciding on what shoes will keep me within my weight allowance but what about beauty? Manicure and Pedicure's are popular within salons at this time of year but what about preparing your skin?

To achieve a long lasting glow on holiday skin preparation is key alongside your SPF. A great way to prep your skin is exfoliation; by removing the build up of dead skin cells on your skin prior to your holiday you are ensuring your skin cells are in the first phase allowing for a longer lasting tan. SPF is important to stop burning as colour achieved through burning will simply peel off in a matter of days and cause damage to the skin and potential long term damage too.

In Salon pre- Holiday Pamper

St Giles Spa has the best pre-holiday pampering with the 'Elemis intensely cleansing lime and ginger salt scrub' £38 and book through July and receive a free OPI Pedicure..... What is not to love about that!

Upon my visit to the spa I stripped down to disposable underwear and laid and relaxed on the treatment bed covered by towels. The room is dimly lit with soft music playing and I was instantly ready to 'nod' off. My skin was first drizzled in hot oil which felt amazing before each area was then scrubbed smoothed with the Elemis Lime and Ginger salt glow. After showering the product off my skin it was then finished with a layer of Elemis body cream.
My skin felt absolutely gorgeous and was the softest it has ever been.

After my scrub it was then onto the Pedicure, Pedicures being one of my favourite all time treatments. I was spoilt for choice with the OPI colour selection and choose 'Aloha from OPI' which is a bright coral orange to finish my pampering.

While away....

To maintain your skin at while away St Giles Spa offers the full retail range. I recommend the Blossoming Botanical collection or the 'Devils mint body scrub' to keep skin smooth while away. Prices from £25.

If you are not jetting off on holiday this year don't feel this is not the pamper for you; the salt scrub is great to hydrate dry skin, remove dead skin cells and increase circulation to the area! A perfect way to tackle cellulite... need I say more?
